About the List of CFR Sections Affected

What is the List of CFR Sections Affected?

The List of CFR Sections Affected (LSA) lists proposed, new, and amended Federal regulations that have been published in the Federal Register since the most recent revision date of a Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) title. It is published by the Office of the Federal Register, National Archives and Records Administration.

Each LSA issue is cumulative and contains the CFR part and section numbers, a description of its status (e.g., amended, confirmed, revised), and the Federal Register page number where the change(s) may be found. The LSA is issued monthly.

What’s Available?

  • govinfo contains the LSA from 1997 forward. Documents are available as ASCII text and Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
  • Also available is the CFR Parts Affected from the Federal Register to find final and proposed rules that affect the CFR and have been published in the Federal Register within the past 24 hours, week, month, or within a specific date range.

Searching the List of CFR Sections Affected

You can find and search the LSA by:

  • Using Basic Search for keyword and metadata fielded searches,
  • Using Advanced Search; fields specific to the LSA will display after you select List of CFR Sections Affected in the Refine by Collection column,
  • Refining search results by clicking on links in the Refine Your Search panel on the left hand side of the page (the sections under Refine Your Search correspond to the metadata available for the documents), and
  • Browsing the List of CFR Sections Affected browse page.

Search by CFR Title Number – For example, CFR Title 3.

  • Using Basic Search, enter: collection:lsa titlenum:3
  • Using Advanced Search, select List of CFR Sections Affected under Refine by Collection, then under Search In select Title Number from the first box and enter 3 in the next box

Search by Keyword – For example, documents with the word "agriculture" in the full text.

  • Using Basic Search, enter: collection:lsa agriculture
  • Using Advanced Search, select List of CFR Sections Affected under Refine by Collection, then under Search In enter agriculture in the second text box

Search by Date Range – For example, between January 1, 2009 and March 31, 2009.

  • Using Advanced Search, under Date Range select Date is between from the box then select or enter 01/01/2009 in the next box and 03/31/2009 in the last box; then select List of CFR Sections Affected under Refine by Collection

The date the document was ingested into the FDsys preservation repository.

The URL where the document or the document in context (the content detail page) is located.
