Over the years, many of our users asked to be able to embed a govinfo search widget on their sites. In October 2020, we previewed the design and functionality at the Federal Depository Library Council Meeting. We also posted a survey to get feedback from our user community.
Based on the feedback, we moved forward and made this available via our main help page in November 2020. Now that it is available, we are interested in hearing feedback about how it's working, where it's being used, and any suggestions for further improvements.
This search widget is intended to be added to a website by a developer or website administrator. When a user enters terms into the search box and selects "search", they will be sent to the results on the govinfo search results page.
The widget is designed to be as easy to implement as possible, avoiding conflicts with your site's styling and not requiring any external libraries. Adding it should be as simple as copying and pasting into your site's html in the place of your choosing.
