GovInfo now has a complete run of editions for the Congressional Pictorial Directory from 1951 (82nd Congress) to the present. This was made possible through GPO’s recent digitization of historical volumes.
From 1951 to 1965, due to its unique size and function, the publication was called the Congressional Pocket Directory. Beginning with the 90th Congress, it was renamed the Congressional Pictorial Directory.
Each directory includes a photograph of every House of Representatives and Senate member, information about a member’s length of service, political party affiliations, and Congressional district. Each directory also includes photos of the President, Vice President, and House and Senate officers and officials.
The Joint Committee on Printing publishes the directory biennially. An interesting fact is that until the publishing of the Pictorial Directory for the 112th Congress, the photographs were in black and white.
On the collection browse page or through a search, you can view and download editions of the Congressional Pictorial Directory from the 82nd Congress to the present.
