Impeachment Trial Committee

A Senate Impeachment Trial committee may appointed by the Presiding Officer of the Senate in pursuit of carrying out their duties under Rule XI of the Senate Manual. Under that rule the Senate committee has broad powers to investigate charges of impeachment against federal officials brought to them by the House of Representatives. The committee prepares and certifies a report of its proceedings and any testimony received for the Senate as a whole. [Senate Manual 113-1 p.223]
