This handbook is designed to help high school counselors .advise students about financial aid for postsecondary education. It focuses on the student financial aid programs administered by the U . S . Department of Education. The book includes supplementary materials designed to encourage high school students to consider postsecondary education as an avenue to a more rewarding career. This handbook is divided into three parts: "General Information about Postsecondary Opportunities"; "Application Process for Financial Aid"; and "Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid." Appendix A is "Sources of Additional Information"; Appendix B is "Directory of State Agencies"; and Appendix C contains sample handouts. A glossary is also provided.
