The President spoke at approximately 12:10 p.m. in the Memorial Amphitheater at the Arlington National Cemetery. In his remarks, he referred to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. J. Daniel Caine, USAF; Sherrie Battle-McGhee, mother of Cpl. Ryan C. McGhee, USA; Jonathan Farmer, a Green Beret, Scott Wirtz, a civilian intelligence officer, and Ghadir Taher, a Syrian-born contractor, who were also killed in the explosion that killed SCPO Shannon M. Kent, USN, in Manbij, Syria, on January 16, 2019; and Stephen and Mary Plover-Smith, parents, and Mariah Smith, sister, of SCPO Kent. He also referred to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist organization. The transcript was released by the Office of Communications on May 28.
