Stabenow; and Elizabeth Eckford, Carlotta Walls, Terrence Roberts, Minnijean Brown-Trickey, and Gloria Ray Karlmark, members of the "Little Rock Nine" students who initially desegregated Central High School in Little Rock, AR, in 1957.
