It also references related national voluntary consensus standards, provides a labeling and third party certification procedure to assure that the building products used in HUD programs meet the appropriate national voluntary consensus standards, supplements the HUD Building Product Standards and Certification Program by requiring that additional information be included on the label, tag, or mark that each manufacturer would affix to a certified product, and specifies the frequency with which products must be tested in order to be acceptable to HUD.
