The following list includes the President's public schedule and other 
items of general interest announced by the Office of the Press Secretary 
and not included elsewhere in this issue.

May 28

    The President returned from Camp David, MD, to Washington, DC.

May 29

    In the morning, the President traveled to Arlington, VA, and in the 
afternoon, he returned to Washington, DC.
    In the evening, the President traveled to Lisbon, Portugal, arriving 
the following morning.

May 30

    In the morning, the President participated in a wreath laying 
ceremony at the Jeronimos Monastery in Lisbon. In the afternoon, he met 
with President Jorge Sampaio of Portugal in the President's Office at 
Palacio de Belem.

May 31

    In the morning, the President attended the U.S.-European Union 
summit meeting in the Throne Room at Queluz Palace in Lisbon.

June 1

    In the morning, the President met with Prime Minister Ehud Barak of 
Israel in the 20th Floor Suite at the Dom Pedro Hotel in Lisbon.
    In the afternoon, the President traveled to Berlin, Germany. In the 
evening, he met with Christian Democratic Union leader Angela Merkel in 
Room 686 at the Intercon Hotel.
    The President announced his intention to nominate John Train to be a 
member of the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board.

June 2

    In the morning, the President traveled to Aachen, Germany, and in 
the evening, he returned to Berlin, Germany.
    The White House announced that the President will meet with King 
Abdullah II of Jordan in Washington, DC, on June 6.
