October 1

In the morning, in Miami, FL, the President had an intelligence 
briefing. Later, he traveled to Allentown, PA, where, upon arrival, he 
met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Cheryl Hornung.
In the afternoon, the President traveled to Manchester, NH, where, upon 
arrival, he met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Paul Freeman. Later, at the McIntyre Ski Area in Manchester, he 
participated in a Victory 2004 rally.
Later in the afternoon, the President returned to Washington, DC.
The President announced his intention to nominate Ronald 
Rosenfeld to be a Director on the Board of 
Directors of the Federal Housing Finance Board.
The President announced his intention to nominate Michael Butler to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the Morris 
K. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy 
Foundation.
The President announced his intention to appoint Robin Cook, Charles L. Glazer, and

traveled to Columbus, OH, where, upon arrival, he met with USA Freedom 
Corps volunteer Karen Kindron. He then began a 
bus tour.
Later in the morning, the President traveled to Mansfield, OH.
In the afternoon, the President traveled to Cuyahoga Falls, OH. While en 
route aboard the bus, he met with leaders of the Fraternal Order of 
Police.
Later in the afternoon, the President returned to Washington, DC, 
arriving in the evening.
The White House announced that on October 1 the President declared a 
major disaster in New York and ordered Federal aid to supplement State 
and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms and 
flooding on August 29-September 16.

then had an intelligence briefing.
Later in the morning, the President traveled to Des Moines, IA, where, 
upon arrival, he met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Tony Salem.

returned to Washington, DC.

October 5

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing.
In the evening, in the Residence, the President watched the Vice 
Presidential debate. Later, he had a telephone conversation with Vice 
President Dick Cheney to discuss the debate.

October 6

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing. Later, he 
traveled to Wilkes-Barre, PA, where, upon arrival, he met with USA 
Freedom Corps volunteers Blake, Mona, and Katherine Schomas.
Later in the morning, the President traveled to Detroit, MI, where, upon 
arrival in the afternoon, he met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Robert 
Eastman. He then traveled to Farmington 
Hills, MI.
Later in the afternoon, the President returned to Washington, DC, 
arriving in the evening.

October 7

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing. He then had 
a telephone conversation with President Hu Jintao 
of China to discuss China-U.S. relations, the situation in North Korea, 
economic issues, and China-Taiwan relations.
Later in the morning, in the Oval Office, the President met with Finance 
Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi of the Iraqi 
Interim Government.
In the afternoon, the President traveled to Wausau, WI, where, upon 
arrival, he met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Dolores 
Milbeck. Later, he traveled to St. Louis, 
MO, where, upon arrival, he met with USA Freedom Corps volunteer Fred 
Ruhrwien.
The President made additional disaster assistance available to Florida 
by authorizing an increase in the level of Federal funding for Public 
Assistance projects undertaken as a result of Tropical Storm Bonnie and 
Hurricane Charley and Hurricanes Frances, Ivan, and Jeanne.
The President declared a major disaster in South Carolina and ordered 
Federal aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area 
struck by Tropical Storm Frances beginning on September 6 and 
continuing.
The President declared a major disaster in Minnesota and ordered Federal 
aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by 
severe storms and flooding beginning on September 14 and continuing.
The President declared a major disaster in the U.S. Virgin Islands and 
ordered Federal aid to supplement Territory and local recovery efforts 
in the area struck by Tropical Storm Jeanne on September 14-17.
The President declared a major disaster in Tennessee and ordered Federal 
aid to supplement State and local recovery efforts in the area struck by 
severe storms and flooding on September 16-20.

October 8

In the morning, the President had a telephone conversation with 
President-elect Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia to congratulate him on his October 4 
election victory. He then had an intelligence briefing.
The President announced his intention to nominate Frederick William 
Hatfield to be a Commissioner of the 
Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The President announced his intention to nominate Harold 
Damelin to be Inspector General of the 
Department of the Treasury.
The President announced his intention to nominate Edward L.

In the afternoon, the President traveled to Des Moines, IA, where, upon

Overstreet. Later, he traveled to Sioux

Later in the afternoon, the President and Mrs. Bush, who joined him in

November 2

In the morning, the President and Mrs. Bush went to the Crawford Fire 
Station to vote. Later, they traveled to Columbus, OH.
In the afternoon, the President and Mrs. Bush returned to Washington, 
DC, where, upon arrival on the South Lawn, they were greeted by White 
House staff.
During the day, the President monitored election results.

November 3

In the morning, in the Oval Office, the President had separate telephone 
conversations with Representative Richard Burr, 
David Vitter, and Mel R. Martinez to congratulate them on their election victories in the 
North Carolina, Louisiana, and Florida Senate races, respectively.
Later in the morning, in the Oval Office, the President had intelligence 
and FBI briefings. He then had separate telephone conversations with 
former Representative John Thune, 
Representative Jim DeMint, Senator Jim 
Bunning, and former Representative Tom 
Coburn to congratulate them on their election 
victories in the South Dakota, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Oklahoma 
Senate races, respectively.
Later in the morning, in the Oval Office, the President received a 
telephone call from Democratic Presidential candidate John F. 
Kerry in which Senator Kerry conceded the 
November 2 election. During the call, the President expressed his 
appreciation for Senator Kerry's efforts in the campaign.

November 4

In the morning, the President had a telephone conversation with 
President Khalifa bin Zayid Al Nuhayyan of the United Arab Emirates to express his condolences on 
the death of his father, former President Shaykh Zayid bin Sultan Al 
Nuhayyan. He then had a 
telephone conversation with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan to congratulate him on his October 9 
election victory.

Later in the morning, the President had separate telephone conversations 
with Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of Israel, 
Prime Minister Ayad Allawi of the Iraqi Interim 
Government, President Aleksander Kwasniewski of Poland, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Prime Minister Silvio 
Berlusconi of Italy, all of whom 
congratulated the President on his reelection victory. He then had an 
intelligence briefing.
In the afternoon, on the State Floor, the President met with campaign 
staff to thank them for their efforts during the campaign. He then 
traveled to Camp David, MD.
The President announced the November 3 recess appointments of Carolyn L. 
Gallagher and Louis J. 
Giuliano as Governors on the Board of 
Governors of the U.S. Postal Service.

November 5

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing.
During the day, the President had a video conference with the National 
Security Council to discuss the situation in Fallujah, Iraq.

November 6

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing.
The White House announced that the President will welcome Prime Minister 
Tony Blair of the United Kingdom to the White 
House for discussions on November 11-12.

November 7

In the afternoon, the President and Mrs. Bush returned to Washington, 
DC.

November 8

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing. Later, in 
the Oval Office, he met with Secretary of Defense Donald H. 
Rumsfeld. He also had a telephone 
conversation with Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi of Japan to discuss the situation in North Korea.

November 9

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing.
The White House announced that the President will meet with North 
Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary General Jakob ``Jaap'' Gijsbert 
de Hoop Scheffer at 
the White House on November 10.
The White House announced that the President will attend the 12th Asia-
Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Meeting in Santiago, Chile, 
on November 20-21 and later will participate in an official visit with 
President Ricardo Lagos of Chile.

November 10

In the morning, the President had separate telephone conversations with 
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of 
the Philippines, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, Prime Minister Pedro Santana 
Lopes of Portugal, and King Abdullah 
II of Jordan, all of whom congratulated the 
President on his reelection victory.
Later in the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing and met 
with the National Security Council. He then met with Secretary of State 
Colin L. Powell.
During the day, the President met with Senator John McCain of Arizona to discuss legislative priorities.

November 11

In the morning, the President had an intelligence briefing. Later, on 
the State Floor, he hosted a reception for veterans, leaders of veterans 
organizations, and Medal of Honor recipients.
Later in the morning, the President and Mrs. Bush traveled to Arlington, 
VA, where they participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of 
the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
In the afternoon, the President and Mrs. Bush returned to Washington, 
DC.
