Nomination for an Assistant Administrator at the Agency for 
International Development
August 5, 1993

    The President announced his intention today to nominate career 
Foreign Service Officer John F. Hicks to be Assistant Administrator of 
the Agency for International Development, U.S. International Development 
Cooperation Agency, and Director of AID's Africa Bureau.

    ``John Hicks is a dedicated and capable professional who is one of 
the Foreign Service's leading experts on African development,'' said the 
President. ``I expect him to do an outstanding job in this position.''
