Designation of Charles R. Hilty as Chief Financial Officer of the 
Department of Agriculture
September 21, 1992

    The President today designated Charles R. Hilty, of Ohio, Assistant 
Secretary of Agriculture for Administration, as Chief Financial Officer 
of the Department of Agriculture. He will serve in these positions 
concurrently. This is a new position.
    Currently Mr. Hilty serves as Assistant Secretary of Agriculture for 
Administration. Prior to this he served as Associate Deputy Secretary of 
Agriculture, 1991. Mr. Hilty has also served as minority staff director 
for the House Committee on Agriculture in the U.S. House of 
Representatives, 1984-91, and as administrative assistant in the office 
of Congressman Edward Madigan, 1978-84.
    Mr. Hilty graduated from Bowling Green State University (B.S., 
1960). He served in the Ohio National Guard, 1960-66. He was born 
November 6, 1934, in Bluffton, OH. Mr. Hilty is married and currently 
resides in Washington, DC.
