Statement by Press Secretary Fitzwater on the August Unemployment Rate
September 4, 1992

The August drop in the unemployment rate, for the second month in a
row, is an encouraging sign that the economy is improving. But we cannot
be satisfied until every American who wants a job has one.
We continue to urge Congress to pass the President's program of
economic incentives to spur economic growth and ensure an even stronger
recovery.
