Statement by Press Secretary Fitzwater on Congressional Findings on the
President's Involvement in the Alleged Paris Meetings

July 1, 1992
We are glad that Congress, in a bipartisan report, concluded today
what we knew all along: that President Bush had no involvement with any
alleged meetings in Paris in October 1980, and in fact, he never left
the country at that time.

Note: The statement referred to the interim report,
approved June 30, of the House Committee on
Foreign Affairs Task Force To Investigate
Certain Allegations Concerning the Holding of
American Hostages by Iran in 1980.
