General Moiseyev was brought to the Oval Office by General Scowcroft after a brief meeting in the General's office. General Moiseyev recounted for the President his view of the progress of the talks of the last 2 days. The President reaffirmed the U.S. and Western position concerning the CFE treaty. The President took the opportunity to ask General Moiseyev to convey his regards to President Gorbachev. Note: The statement referred to Brent Scowcroft, Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs, and President Mikhail Gorbachev of the Soviet Union.
