<section id="d2330e88" identifier="/us/pl/118/77/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3e00281c-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t18/s1">18 USC 1 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.<?GPOvSpace 06?></heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Victims’ Voices Outside and Inside the Courtroom Effectiveness Act</shortTitle>” or the “<shortTitle role="act">Victims’ VOICES Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d2330e108" identifier="/us/pl/118/77/s2" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>RESTITUTION FOR EXPENSES OF PERSONS WHO HAVE ASSUMED THE VICTIM’S RIGHTS.</heading><content class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x3e004f2d-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  <ref href="/us/usc/t18/s3663A/a">Section 3663A(a) of title 18, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><paragraph class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3e00763e-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">“(4) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Clarification</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In ordering restitution under this section, a court shall order the defendant to make restitution to a person who has assumed the victim’s rights under paragraph (2) to reimburse that person’s necessary and reasonable—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e00763f-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">“(A) </num><content>lost income, child care, transportation, and other expenses incurred during and directly related to participation in the investigation or prosecution of the offense or attendance at proceedings related to the offense;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e007640-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">“(B) </num><content>lost income, transportation, and other expenses incurred that are directly related to transporting the victim for necessary medical and related professional services and devices relating to physical, psychiatric, and psychological care, including nonmedical care and treatment rendered in accordance with a method of healing recognized by the law of the place of treatment; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e007641-e80a-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">“(C) </num><content>lost income, transportation, and other expenses incurred that are directly related to transporting the victim <page identifier="/us/stat/138/1510">138 STAT. 1510</page>
to receive necessary physical and occupational therapy and rehabilitation.”</content></subparagraph>
