<section id="d21310e85" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>DESIGNATION OF BALD EAGLE AS NATIONAL BIRD.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3e240724-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3e240725-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t36/s306">36 USC 306 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><inline class="smallCaps">Findings</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Congress finds that—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240726-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>bald eagles are a historical symbol of the United States representing independence, strength, and freedom;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240727-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>the bald eagle is unique to North America;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240728-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/3" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>on June 20, 1782, the bald eagle was adopted as the Coat of Arms for the United States Great Seal;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240729-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/4" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><content>the bald eagle image remains the leading insignia for all branches of the United States military;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072a-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/5" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">(5) </num><content>the bald eagle is the leading image on thousands of Federal Government branches, departments, and agencies, including the President, Vice-President, Congress, and Senate;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072b-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/6" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="6">(6) </num><content>the bald eagle serves as the logo, trademark, and brand icon for businesses, nonprofit organizations, and sports teams across the United States;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072c-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/7" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="7">(7) </num><content>bald eagles are integral to the spiritual lives and sacred belief systems of most Indigenous peoples and Tribal communities;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072d-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/8" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="8">(8) </num><content>bald eagles are prevalent in belief, practice, stories, ceremonies, dance, traditions, songs, regalia, flags, insignias, arts, craft, and other forms of spiritual reverence;</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072e-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/9" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="9">(9) </num><chapeau>bald eagle festivals are—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e24072f-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/9/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>held in over 100 locations across the United States; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240730-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/9/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>key components of community engagement;</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240731-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/10" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="10">(10) </num><chapeau>the bald eagle is prevalent on—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240732-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/10/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>hundreds of United States stamps; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240733-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/10/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>many United States coins and currencies;</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240734-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/11" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="11">(11) </num><content>the bald eagle is a primary component and symbol on Federal and State flags throughout the United States; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y3e240735-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/a/12" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="12">(12) </num><content>joint efforts of the Federal Government and State and local governments, nonprofit organizations, and individuals have contributed to the successful recovery of the bald eagle.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y3e240736-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" identifier="/us/pl/118/206/s1/b" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Designation</inline>.—</heading><content><ref href="/us/usc/t36/ch3">Chapter 3 of title 36, United States Code</ref>, <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="add">adding</amendingAction> at the end the following:<quotedContent><section class="centered fontsize12" id="y3e240737-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658163"><num class="fontsize12" value="306">“§ 306.</num><heading class="fontsize12"> <sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x3e240738-e80e-11f0-a1e4-69761a48a15a" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t36/s306">36 USC 306</ref>.</p></sidenote>National bird</heading><content class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  “The bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is the national bird.”</content></section>
