<section id="d121881e98" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I658146"><num class="bold" value="1">SECTION 1. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x1291520a-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2051">15 USC 2051 note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  This Act may be cited as “<shortTitle role="act">Reese’s Law</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d121881e113" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="2">SEC. 2. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x1291791b-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2056e">15 USC 2056e</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY STANDARD FOR BUTTON CELL OR COIN BATTERIES AND CONSUMER PRODUCTS CONTAINING SUCH BATTERIES.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326cc-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x129326cd-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not later than 1 year after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Commission shall, in accordance with <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s553">section 553 of title 5, United States Code</ref>, promulgate a final consumer product safety standard for button cell or coin batteries and consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries that shall only contain—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326ce-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>a performance standard requiring the button cell or coin battery compartments of a consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries to be secured in a manner that would eliminate or adequately reduce the risk of injury from button or coin cell battery ingestion by children that are 6 years of age or younger during reasonably foreseeable use or misuse conditions; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326cf-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x129326d0-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Labeling.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x129326d1-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Requirements.</p></sidenote><chapeau>warning label requirements—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326d2-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>to be included on the packaging of button cell or coin batteries and the packaging of a consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries;</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326d3-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>to be included in any literature, such as a user manual, that accompanies a consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326d4-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2/C" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="C">(C) </num><chapeau>to be included, as practicable—</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y129326d5-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2/C/i" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">(i) </num><content>directly on a consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries in a manner that is visible to the consumer upon installation or replacement of the button cell or coin battery; or</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y129326d6-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/a/2/C/ii" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">(ii) </num><content>in the case of a product for which the battery is not intended to be replaced or installed by the consumer, to be included directly on the consumer product in a manner that is visible to the consumer upon access to the battery compartment, except that if it <page identifier="/us/stat/136/2095">136 STAT. 2095</page>
is impracticable to label the product, this information shall be placed on the packaging or instructions.</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326d7-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Requirements for Warning Labels</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Warning labels required under subsection (a)(2) shall—</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326d8-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>clearly identify the hazard of ingestion; and</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326d9-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>instruct consumers, as practicable, to keep new and used batteries out of the reach of children, to seek immediate medical attention if a battery is ingested, and to follow any other consensus medical advice.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326da-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Treatment of Standard for Enforcement Purposes</inline>.—</heading><content>A consumer product safety standard promulgated under subsection (a) shall be treated as a consumer product safety rule promulgated under section 9 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2058">15 U.S.C. 2058</ref>).</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326db-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Exception for Reliance on Voluntary Standard</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326dc-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Before promulgation of standard by commission</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Subsection (a)<sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x129326dd-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote> shall not apply if the Commission determines, before the Commission promulgates a final consumer product safety standard under such subsection, that—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326de-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>with respect to any consumer product for which there is a voluntary consumer product safety standard that meets the requirements for a standard promulgated under subsection (a) with respect to such product; and</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326df-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><chapeau>the voluntary standard described in subparagraph (A)—</chapeau><clause class="fontsize10" id="y129326e0-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/1/B/i" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="i">(i) </num><content>is in effect at the time of the determination by the Commission; or</content></clause>
<clause class="fontsize10" id="y129326e1-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/1/B/ii" style="-uslm-lc:I658126"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="ii">(ii) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x129326e2-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p></sidenote><content>will be in effect not later than the date that is 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</content></clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326e3-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/d/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Determination required to be published in federal register</inline>.—</heading><content>Any determination made by the Commission under this subsection shall be published in the Federal Register.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326e4-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/e" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="e">(e) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Treatment of Voluntary Standard for Enforcement Purposes</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326e5-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/e/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">In general</inline>.—</heading><content>If the Commission makes a determination under subsection (d) with respect to a voluntary standard, the requirements of such voluntary standard shall be treated as a consumer product safety rule promulgated under section 9 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2058">15 U.S.C. 2058</ref>) beginning on the date described in paragraph (2).</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326e6-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/e/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Date described</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The date described in this paragraph is the later of—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326e7-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/e/2/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>the date of the determination of the Commission under subsection (d) with respect to the voluntary standard described in paragraph (1); or</content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326e8-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/e/2/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><content>the effective date contained in the voluntary standard described in paragraph (1).</content></subparagraph>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y129326e9-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/f" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="f">(f) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Revision of Voluntary Standard</inline>.—</heading><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y129326ea-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/f/1" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Notice to commission</inline>.—</heading><content>If a voluntary standard with respect to which the Commission has made a determination under subsection (d) is subsequently revised, the organization that revised the standard shall notify the Commission after the final approval of the revision.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y12934dfb-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/f/2" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12934dfc-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12934dfd-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Notification.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12934dfe-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Effective date of revision</inline>.—</heading><content>Beginning on the date that is 180 days after the Commission is notified of a revised voluntary standard described in paragraph (1) (or such later <page identifier="/us/stat/136/2096">136 STAT. 2096</page>
date as the Commission determines appropriate), such revised voluntary standard in whole or in part shall be considered to be a consumer product safety rule promulgated under section 9 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2058">15 U.S.C. 2058</ref>), in place of the prior version, unless, within 90 days after receiving the notice, the Commission notifies the organization that the revised voluntary standard, in whole or in part, does not improve the safety of the consumer product covered by the standard and that the Commission is retaining all or part of the existing consumer product safety standard.</content></paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y12934dff-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s2/g" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="g">(g) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Future Rulemaking</inline>.—</heading><content>At any time after the promulgation of a final consumer product safety standard under subsection (a), a voluntary standard is treated as a consumer product safety rule under subsection (e), or a revised voluntary standard becomes enforceable as a consumer product safety rule under subsection (f), the Commission may initiate a rulemaking in accordance with <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s553">section 553 of title 5, United States Code</ref>, to modify the requirements of the standard or revised standard. Any rule promulgated under this subsection shall be treated as a consumer product safety rule promulgated under section 9 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2058">15 U.S.C. 2058</ref>).</content></subsection>

<section id="d121881e366" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="3">SEC. 3. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12934e00-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2056e">15 USC 2056e note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>CHILD-RESISTANT PACKAGING FOR BUTTON CELL OR COIN BATTERIES.</heading><subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y12937511-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s3/a" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12937512-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Deadline.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12937513-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Requirement</inline>.—</heading><content>Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, any button cell or coin battery sold, offered for sale, manufactured for sale, distributed in commerce, or imported into the United States, or included separately with a consumer product sold, offered for sale, manufactured for sale, distributed in commerce, or imported into the United States, shall be packaged in accordance with the standards provided in <ref href="/us/cfr/t16/s1700.15">section 1700.15 of title 16, Code of Federal Regulations</ref> (or any successor regulation), as determined through testing in accordance with the method described in <ref href="/us/cfr/t16/s1700.20">section 1700.20 of title 16, Code of Federal Regulations</ref> (or any successor regulation), or another test method for button cell or coin battery packaging specified, by rule, by the Commission.</content></subsection>
<subsection class="firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="y12937514-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s3/b" style="-uslm-lc:I658120"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Applicability</inline>.—</heading><content>The requirement of subsection (a) shall be treated as a standard for the special packaging of a household substance established under section 3(a) of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act of 1970 (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s1472/a">15 U.S.C. 1472(a)</ref>).</content></subsection>

<section id="d121881e411" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s4" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="4">SEC. 4. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12937515-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2056e">15 USC 2056e note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>EXEMPTION FOR COMPLIANCE WITH EXISTING STANDARD.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  The standards promulgated under this Act shall not apply with respect to any toy product that is in compliance with the battery accessibility and labeling requirements of <ref href="/us/cfr/t16/pt1250">part 1250 of title 16, Code of Federal Regulations</ref>, and in reference to section 3(a), shall not apply with respect to button cell or coin batteries that are in compliance with the marking and packaging provisions of the ANSI Safety Standard for Portable Lithium Primary Cells and Batteries (ANSI C18.3M).</content></section>
<section id="d121881e426" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="5">SEC. 5. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12939c26-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2056e">15 USC 2056e note</ref>.</p></sidenote><heading>DEFINITIONS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent0 fontsize10" id="x1293ea47-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  In this Act:</chapeau><paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea48-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/1" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Button cell or coin battery</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term “<term>button cell or coin battery</term>” means—</chapeau><subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea49-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/1/A" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="A">(A) </num><content>a single cell battery with a diameter greater than the height of the battery; or<page identifier="/us/stat/136/2097">136 STAT. 2097</page></content></subparagraph>
<subparagraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea4a-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/1/B" style="-uslm-lc:I658124"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="B">(B) </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x1293ea4b-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Determination.</p></sidenote><content>any other battery, regardless of the technology used to produce an electrical charge, that is determined by the Commission to pose an ingestion hazard.</content></subparagraph>

<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea4c-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/2" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Commission</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>Commission</term>” means the Consumer Product Safety Commission.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea4d-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/3" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Consumer product</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>consumer product</term>” has the meaning given such term in section 3(a) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2052/a">15 U.S.C. 2052(a)</ref>).</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea4e-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/4" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>consumer product containing button cell or coin batteries</term>” means a consumer product containing or designed to use one or more button cell or coin batteries, regardless of whether such batteries are intended to be replaced by the consumer or are included with the product or sold separately.</content></paragraph>
<paragraph class="fontsize10" id="y1293ea4f-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s5/5" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I658122"><num class="fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">(5) </num><heading class="fontsize10"><inline class="smallCaps">Toy product</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>toy product</term>” means any object designed, manufactured, or marketed as a plaything for children under 14 years of age.</content></paragraph>

<section id="d121881e504" identifier="/us/pl/117/171/s6" style="-uslm-lc:I658141"><num class="fontsize12" value="6">SEC. 6. </num><sidenote><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12941160-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180"><ref href="/us/usc/t15/s2056e">15 USC 2056e note</ref>.</p><p class="leftAlign firstIndent0 fontsize8" id="x12941161-e81b-11f0-bc57-ad3ac4b1618c" style="-uslm-lc:I658180">Applicability.</p></sidenote><heading>EFFECTIVE DATE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I658120">  The standard promulgated under section 2(a) and the requirements of section 3(a) shall only apply to a product that is manufactured or imported after the effective date of such standard or requirement.</content></section>
