[Opa Retailer's Food Index, Group 1 and 2 Stores] [From the U.S. Government Publishing Office, www.gpo.gov] Group 1 and Group 2 OPA RETAILER’S FOOD INDEX I Office of Price Administration • United States of America Washington 25, D. C. 424-173 November 15, Î943 This index has been prepared to help you find the percentage mark-up allo ved by OPA for your type of store. A ou will find most of the foods sold in the average retail food store listed in these pages. To use this Index, take the following steps. Look up the name of the item you are pricing in the alphabetical list. Each food is listed by the class of the product, such as cereal drinks, or catsup, but not by brand name, such as Postum or Ketchup. The first column gives the mark-up for a Group 1 store (independents with less than $50,000 annual volume) ~ the second, for a Group 2 store (independents with volume between $50,000 and $250,000 a year). If the allowed percentage is 31, for example, you may learn the ceiling price by multiplying your net cost by 1.31. You can make certain you are correctly establishing your net cost by consulting the OPA Retailer’s Bulletin listed in the third column. OPA Retailers Bulletin No. 35 contains a table which locates your ceiling price for you, according to the net cost and the markup percentage, so that you may be spared the labor of multiplying. Important: In districts where community prices are published, the community ceiling price takes the place of the mark-upprice for a sale by a. store in Group 1 or Group 2'. The fourth column lists the number of the OPA. Regulation which orders the ceiling price of the item. Sometimes it may be necessary for you to look up information about your prices in the Regulation itself. In that case, the ..Price Panel at your local War Price and Ra tioning Board will help you. When you look into the Regulation, remember also to read the Amendments. These Amendments contain changes in. the Regulation, which the OPA may have made after the Regulation was first issued. Usually, all the information you need you will find in the Retailer’s Bulletin. You can, order Retailer’s Bulletins by number from your Price Panel or your nearest District Office. When asking for a Retailer’s Bulletin, remember that the Bulletin which describes a Regulation has an altogether different number than the Regulation itself. This Index will be brought up-to-date in the pages of the DPA Food Guide for Retailers, which you will receive once each month, starting in a few weeks. KEEP THIS INDEX AT HAND. It is your easiest guide to legal mark-ups over net costs.
