This Directory has been prepared to conform to the definition in chapter 12-60 of the OPA Manual, as follows;
AREA RENT OPPICD - The supervising office of one or more legally designated defense-rental areas, which is authorized to be headed by an Area Rent Director empowered to sign formal orders in his own name»
BRANCH OFF ICE - An office below the area office level which is staffed by one or more
full-time permanent rent employees. It should be noted that this definition of a branch office includes the previous so-called "Sub-Area11 offices, which were operating on a full time basis.
RENT STATION - (Designated herein as "RS"). - Includes all offices or stations, whether located in the local War Price and Rationing Board or in other space, which are not staffed by full-time, permanent rent personnel, but which may have these services of a rent clerk charged to the local rationing boat'd, and which are serviced by area rent representatives on a "circuit-rider" basis. Includes former "Sub-Area" and "Branch" offices which operated on a part-time basis.
