Disaster Assistance: Information on Expenditures and Proposals to Improve
Effectiveness and Reduce Future Costs (Testimony, 03/16/95,
GAO/T-RCED-95-140).

Concern has been growing in Congress about the rising costs of federal
disaster assistance in recent years.  This testimony focuses on (1) ways
to enhance the effectiveness of several federal disaster assistance
programs, (2) proposals to modify federal disaster assistance policy to
potentially lower future federal costs, and (3) the accuracy of
financial information in the Federal Emergency Management Agency's
Disaster Relief Fund.
