SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The authority to award new Federal Perkins Loans to students has expired. Institutions that continue to service their Perkins Loans (or contract with a third-party servicer for servicing) are required to report all Perkins Loan activity on the institution's Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP). The FWS program encourages the part-time employment of undergraduate and graduate students with need to help pay for their education and to involve the students in community service activities. The FSEOG program encourages institutions to provide grants to exceptionally needy undergraduate students to help pay for their education. The Perkins Loan, FWS, and FSEOG programs are authorized by parts E and C, and part A, subpart 3, respectively, of title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. Throughout the year, in its ``Electronic Announcements,'' the Department will continue to provide additional information for the individual deadline dates listed in the table under the DEADLINE DATES section of this notice.
