AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
ACTION: Direct final rule; confirmation of effective date.

SUMMARY: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is confirming the
effective date of October 11, 2022, for the direct final rule that was
published in the Federal Register on July 26, 2022. This direct final
rule amends the Holtec International HI-STORM Flood/Wind Multipurpose
Canister Storage System in the ``List of approved spent fuel storage
casks'' to include Amendment No. 8 of Certificate of Compliance No.
1032. Amendment No. 8 also incorporates other minor editorial
corrections.
DATES: The effective date of October 11, 2022, for the direct final
rule published July 26, 2022 (87 FR 44273), is confirmed.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On July 26, 2022 (87 FR 44273), the NRC
published a direct final rule amending its regulations in part 72 of
title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations to revise the Holtec
International HI-STORM Flood/Wind Multipurpose Canister Storage System
listing within the ``List of approved spent fuel storage casks'' to
include Amendment No. 8 to Certificate of Compliance No. 1032.
Amendment No. 8 revises the description in the certificate of
compliance for the HI-STORM Flood/Wind system to clearly indicate that
only the portions of the components that contact the pool water need to
be made of stainless steel or aluminum. Amendment No. 8 also
incorporates other minor editorial corrections.
In the direct final rule published on July 26, 2022, the NRC stated
that if no significant adverse comments were received, the direct final
rule would become effective on October 11, 2022. The NRC did not
receive any comments on the direct final rule. Therefore, this direct
final rule will become effective as scheduled.
