ACTION: Draft environmental impact statement; public meeting; request for comments. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: On March 20, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published in the Federal Register (FR) a notice issuing the draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Holtec International's (Holtec's) application to construct and operate a consolidated interim storage facility (CISF) for spent nuclear fuel and Greater-Than Class C waste, along with a small quantity of mixed oxide fuel in Lea County, New Mexico. The NRC is announcing a public comment webinar to receive comments on the draft report. The public meeting will allow interested members of the public to submit their comments. DATES: The NRC staff will hold a webinar on June 23, 2020. The staff will present the findings of the draft report and will receive public comments during transcribed public meeting. Members of the public are invited to submit comments by July 22, 2020. Comments received after this date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but the NRC is able to ensure consideration only for comments received before this date. Meeting Information On March 20, 2020 (85 FR 16150), the NRC published a notice of availability of a draft EIS for Holtec's proposed CISF for spent nuclear fuel and requested public comments on the draft report. On April 27, 2020 (85 FR 23382) the NRC published a notice extending the comment period to July 22, 2020. The NRC is announcing that staff will hold a public webinar. The webinar will be held online and will offer a telephone line for members of the public to submit comments. A court reporter will be recording all comments received during the webinar.
