ACTION: Notice of Public Meeting.

SUMMARY: The National Nanotechnology Coordination Office (NNCO), on
behalf of the Nanoscale Science, Engineering, and Technology (NSET)
Subcommittee of the Committee on Technology, National Science and
Technology Council (NSTC), will hold an ``International Symposium on
Assessing the Economic Impact of Nanotechnology'' on March 27-28, 2012.
This symposium will bring together key policy makers, academics,
industry representatives, and other interested stakeholders to examine
the current status of nanotechnology in the marketplace and discuss
metrics that might accurately portray the economic benefit of
nanotechnology to individual country economies and the global economy.
The proposed symposium, hosted by the American Association for the
Advancement of Science (AAAS) and jointly organized by the Organization
for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the National
Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), aims to explore a wide range of issues
that underpin the dynamism of national innovation initiatives and, in
particular, how improved estimates of return on investment in
nanotechnology may shape future funding opportunities and national
policy development.
