Introduction The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is preparing and issuing Revision 1 to the Interim Staff Guidance (ISG)-18 document for ``The Design and Testing of Lid Welds on Austenitic Stainless Steel Canisters as Confinement Boundary for Spent Fuel Storage.'' This ISG document provides clarifying guidance to the NRC staff when reviewing licensee integrated safety analyses, license applications or amendment requests, or other related licensing activities for dry cask storage systems under 10 CFR Part 72. The NRC is soliciting public comments on the Draft of ISG-18, Revision 1, which will be considered in the final version or subsequent revisions. II. Summary The purpose of this notice is to provide the public with an opportunity to review and comment on the Draft of ISG-18, Revision 1, ``The Design and Testing of Lid Welds on Austenitic Stainless Steel Canisters as Confinement Boundary for Spent Fuel Storage.''
