AGENCY: National Education Goals Panel.

ACTION: Notice of meeting.

SUMMARY: This notice sets forth the date and location of a forthcoming 
meeting of the National Education Goals Panel. This notice also 
describes the functions of the Panel.

DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, December 1, 1999 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

SUMMARY: The National Education Goals Panel was established to monitor, 
measure and report state and national progress toward achieving the 
eight National Education Goals, and report to the states and the Nation 
on that progress.

Agenda Items

    The meeting of the Panel is open to the public. The meeting is a 
10th Anniversary Conference with presentations to the Panel beginning 
at 1:00 p.m. about the future ``Big Issues'' of education. At 3:30 p.m. 
Panel members will engage the presenters and audience in a public 
hearing on the future role that the Goals and the Panel can play in 
addressing these big issues.
