Sunshine Act Meetings

    Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the 
Government in the Sunshine Act, Pub. L. 94-409, that the Securities and 
Exchange Commission will hold the following meetings during the week of 
October 25, 1999.
    Open meetings will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 10 
a.m., and at 2 p.m.
    Commissioner Unger, as duty officer, determined that no earlier 
notice thereof was possible.
    The subject matter of the open meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 
October 27, 1999, at 10 a.m., will be:
    The Commission will hear oral argument on an appeal by the Division 
of Enforcement from an administrative law judge's initial decision. The 
law judge dismissed an administrative proceeding against Russell Ponce.

    The subject matter of the open meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 
October 27, 1999, at 2 p.m., will be:
    Consideration of whether to issue a release requesting comments 
regarding when or under what conditions the Commission should accept 
financial statements of foreign private issuers that are prepared using 
standards promulgated by the International Accounting Standards
