Notice of Grants To Combat Violent Crimes Against Women on 
Campuses Solicitation

AGENCY: Office of Justice Programs, Violence Against Women Office, 
Justice.

ACTION: Notice of Funds Availability.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

    Authority: The Grants to Combat Violent Crimes Against Women on 
Campuses are authorized by Title VIII, Part E, section 826 of the 
Higher Education Amendments of 1998.

SUMMARY: The Violence Against Women Office of the Office of Justice 
Programs hereby announces the availability of funds for Grants to 
Combat Violent Crimes Against Women on Campuses. These funds are 
available to institutions of higher education for two broad purposes: 
(1) to develop and strengthen effective security and investigation 
strategies to combat violent crimes against women on campuses, 
particularly domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking; and (2) 
to develop, enlarge, and strengthen victim services in cases involving 
violent crimes against women on campuses. Copies of the application for 
this solicitation can be obtained on the Internet from the Violence 
Against Women Office web site at http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/vawgo or by 
calling toll free (800) 851-3420 and requesting publication number 
SL000360. Applications for this solicitation are due no later than 5:00 
p.m. EDT, Friday, July 30, 1999.
