Notice of Intent To Establish the Federal Advisory Committee for 
the Advanced Technology Program; Request for Nominations of Members 
Willing To Serve on the Committee

AGENCY: National Institute of Standards and Technology, Department of 
Commerce.

ACTION: Notice of intent to establish the Federal Advisory Committee 
for the Advanced Technology Program and request for nominations of 
members willing to serve on the committee.

SUMMARY: In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory 
Committee Act and the General Services Administration (GSA) rule on 
Federal Advisory Committee Management, the Secretary of Commerce has 
determined that the establishment of the Advanced Technology Program 
(ATP) Advisory Committee (the ``Committee'') is in the public interest 
in connection with the performance of duties imposed on the Department 
by law. The Committee will advise the Director of the National 
Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) on ATP programs.
    NIST invites and requests nominations of individuals for 
appointment to the Committee NIST will consider nominations received in 
response to this notice for appointment to the Committee.

DATES: The charter will be filed under the Act on July 6, 1999. 
Nominations for members to serve on the committee must be submitted to 
the address below on or before this date.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In accordance with the provisions of the 
Federal Advisory Committee Act, Title

5 United States Code Appendix Section 2 et seq., and the General 
Services Administration (GSA) rule on Federal Advisory Committee 
Management, Title 41 Code of Federal Regulations subpart 101-6.10, the 
Secretary of Commerce has determined that the establishment of the 
Advanced Technology Program (ATP) Advisory Committee (the 
``Committee'') is in the public interest in connection with the 
performance of duties imposed on the Department by law.
    The Committee will advise the Director of the National Institute of 
Standards and Technology (NIST) on ATP programs, plans, and policies.
    The Committee will consist of not fewer than six nor more than 
twelve members appointed by the Director of NIST and its membership 
will be balanced to reflect the wide diversity of technical disciplines 
and industrial sectors represented in ATP projects NIST invites and 
requests nominations of individuals for appointment to the Committee.
    The Committee will function solely as an advisory body, in 
compliance with the provision of the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
