ACTION: Notice. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: The Region X Office of FEMA gives notice that it has received radiological emergency response plans from the State of Washington. These plans support the State of Washington and include the plans of local governments near Washington Nuclear Power Plant No. 2 (WNP-2) located in Benton County, Washington. The submitted Washington State Integrated Fixed Facility Radiological and Chemical Protection Plan will be used by the State and affected counties in case of an emergency at WNP-2. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: For continued operation of nuclear power plants, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requires approved licensee and State and local government's radiological emergency response plans. In support of the Federal requirement for emergency response plans, our rule, ``Review and Approval of State and Local Radiological Emergency Plans and Preparedness,'' (44 CFR 350) describes our procedures for review and approval of State and local government's radiological emergency response plans. Under 44 CFR 350.7, ``Application by State for Review and Approval,'' the State of Washington submitted its Radiological Emergency Plan for the State of Washington and affected counties to the FEMA Region X Office for review and approval under 44 CFR Part 350. Included are radiological emergency response plans and procedures of the Washington State Departments of Agriculture, Emergency Management, and Health, as well as for local governments that are wholly or partially within the emergency planning zones of WNP-2. Copies of the plans are available for review and copying at the FEMA Region X Office, or we will make available upon request under the fee schedule for FEMA Freedom of Information Act requests. The fee schedule is set out in Subpart C of 44 CFR Part 5. There are 221 pages in the Washington State Plan, including 174 pages of annexes and appendices. Our rule, 44 CFR 350, also calls for a public meeting before our approval of the plans. This meeting will be held in accordance with 44 CFR 350.10 in Richland, Washington, before our approval.
