Comments are invited on: (a) Whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency, including whether the information shall have practical utility; (b) the accuracy of the agency's estimate of the burden of the proposed collection of information; (c) ways to enhance the quality, utility and clarity of the information to be collected; and (d) ways to minimize the burden of the collection of information on respondents, including through the use of automated collection techniques or other forms of information technology. Proposed Project 1. 42 CFR 50 Subpart B: Sterilization of Persons in Federally Assisted Family Planning Projects--0937-0166--Extension no Change--These regulations and informed consent procedures are associated with Federally-funded sterilization services. Selected consent forms are audited during site visits and program reviews to ensure compliance [[Page 64262]] with regulations and the protection of the rights of individuals undergoing sterilization. Burden Estimate for Consent Form--Annual Responses: 40,000; Burden per Response: one hour; Total Burden for Consent Form: 40,000 hours--Burden Estimate for Recordkeeping Requirement--Number of Recordkeepers: 4,000; Average Burden per Recordkeeper: 2.5 hours; Total Burden for Recordkeeping: 10,000 hours.
