Information Collection Submitted to the Office of Management and 
Budget for Review Under the Paperwork Reduction Act

AGENCY: Bureau of Indian Affairs, Interior.

ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: This notice announces that the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) 
in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act (44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A) 
is soliciting comments on the proposed information collection form for 
the Annual Analysis of Funds Welfare Assistance Report.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION:

I. Abstract

    The information collection is in compliance with 25 CFR Part 20, 
for the purpose of distributing annual welfare assistance funds to all 
tribes and agencies for the operation of their general assistane 
programs. In addition, the Bureau uses this data to measure program 
performance and for gathering data to prepare the annual program budget 
justification. An agency may not conduct or sponsor, and a person is 
not required to respond to a collection of information unless it 
displays a currently valid OMB control number.

II. Request for Comments

    We specifically request your comments concerning:
    1. Whether the collection of information is necessary for the 
proper performance of the functions of the BIA, including whether the 
information will have practical utility;
    2. The accuracy of the BIA's estimate of the burden of the 
information collection, including the validity of the methodology and 
assumptions used;
    3. The quality, utility and clarity of the information to be 
collected; and,
    4. How to minimize the burden of the information collection on 
those who are to respond, including the use of appropriate automated 
electronic, mechanical or other forms of information technology.

    Title of the Collection of Information: Department of the Interior, 
Bureau of Indian Affairs, Analysis of Funds for the General Assistance 
Program.
    OMB Number: 1076-new.
    Affected Entities: Indian tribes who are living on or near a 
tribally, of by law defined service areas.
