NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION

[Docket Nos. 50-266 and 301]

Wisconsin Electric Power Company; Notice of Withdrawal of
Application for Amendments to Facility Operating Licenses

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has granted
the request of Wisconsin Electric Power Company (the licensee) to
withdraw its December 13, 1995, application for proposed amendments to
Facility Operating License Nos. DPR-24 and DPR-27 for the Point Beach
Nuclear Plant, Unit Nos. 1 and 2, located in Manitowoc County,
Wisconsin.
The proposed amendments would have revised the Technical
Specifications to include the provisions for a core operating limits
report.
The Commission had previously issued a Notice of Consideration of
Issuance of Amendments published in the Federal Register on January 22,
1996 (61 FR 1638). However, by letter dated April 6, 1998, the licensee
withdrew the proposed changes. For further details with respect to this
action, see the application for amendments dated December 13, 1995, and
the licensee's letter dated April 6, 1998, which withdrew the
application for license amendments. The above documents are available
for public inspection at the Commission's Public Document Room, the
Gelman Building, 2120 L Street, NW., Washington, DC, and at the local
public document room located at The Lester Public Library, 1001 Adams
Street, Two Rivers, Wisconsin 54241.

Dated at Rockville, Maryland, this 20th day of April 1998.

    For the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Linda L. Gundrum,
Project Manager, Project Directorate III-1, Division of Reactor
Projects--III/IV, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation.
