ACTION: Science Advisory Board--notice of establishment. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: This notice is published in accordance with Section 9(a)(2) of the Federal Advisory Committee Act of 1972 (Pub. L. 92-463). Following consultation with the General Services Administration, notice is hereby given that the Secretary of the Interior has established the Science Advisory Board. The purpose of the Advisory Board will be to advise and assist the Director of the Bureau of Land Management on issues pertaining to science and the application of scientific information in the management of public lands and their resources. The Advisory Board will be comprised of up to nine members from among the following categories: natural resource management, energy and minerals, conservation biology, and ecology and genetics. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: Under provisions of the Federal advisory committee management regulations (41 CFR Part 101-6.1015(a)(2)), the General Services Administration may waive the requirement that committee establishment notices appear 15 calendar days before the charter is filed. The General Services Administration has granted this waiver, at the request of the Department of the Interior, so that the Bureau of Land Management can meet commitments it made with regard to scheduling the first meeting of the Science Advisory Board.
