Pilgrim Environment Impact Statement

AGENCY: Forest Service, USDA.

ACTION: Revised Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Impact 
Statement.

SUMMARY: The Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, Tahoe National 
Forest has modified the scope of this Environmental Impact Statement. 
The EIS will now address vegetation management projects and directly 
connected actions such as: Fuels treatment and reduction projects, 
timber harvesting, and road construction and reconstruction. The design 
of the new proposal incorporates and addresses all issue previously 
identified. In addition, the Environmental Impact Statement will 
address entry into an area previously identified as the Middle Yuba 
Roadless (RARE I) area, which was not recommended for wilderness or 
roadless status. The Forest Service now anticipates issuing a Draft EIS 
in the second quarter of 1998, and filing the Final EIS in the third 
quarter of 1998.

99, Pages 28002-28003).
