Type of filing: Notice of Intent to File An Application for a New License. b. Project No.: 271. c. Date filed: February 4, 1998. d. Submitted By: Entergy Arkansas, Inc., current licensee. e. Name of Project: Carpenter-Remmel Hydroelectric Project. f. Location: On the Ouachita River, in Garland and Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas. g. Filed Pursuant to: Section 15 of the Federal Power Act, 18 CFR 16.6 of the Commission's regulations. h. Effective date of current license: July 1, 1980. i. Expiration date of current license: February 28, 2003. j. The project consists of the: Carpenter Development comprising: (1) a 115-foot-high, 1,160-foot- long concrete gravity-type dam including a 439-foot-long spillway controlled by ten 26-foot-high by 34-foot-wide Taintor gates; (2) a 18.5-mile-long, 7,200-acre reservoir at elevation 400 feet USGS datum; (3) an integral intake and powerhouse containing two generating units with a total capacity of 56,000 kW; (4) two 115-kV transmission lines; and (5) appurtenant facilities. Remmel Development comprising: (1) a 75-foot-high, 900-foot-long concrete Ambursen-type dam including a 258-foot-long spillway controlled by twelve 15-foot-high by 27-foot-wide Taintor gates; (2) a 11.3-mile-long, 1,940-acre reservoir at elevation 305 feet msl datum; (3) an integral intake and powerhouse containing three generating units with a total capacity of 9,300 kW; (4) two 565-foot-long, 34.5 kV transmission lines, one 72-foot-long, 115 kV transmission line; and (5) appurtenant facilities. k.
