ACTION: Announcement of funding awards. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- SUMMARY: In accordance with section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of Housing and Urban Development Reform Act of 1989, this document notifies the public of funding awards for Fiscal Year 1997 for the Emergency Shelter Grants Set-Aside for Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages. The purpose of this notice is to publish the names and addresses of the award winners and the amount of the awards made available by HUD to provide assistance to the Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages. SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: The Emergency Shelter Grants Set-aside for Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages funds for this notice is authorized by subtitle B, title IV of the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Assistance Act. The proposed rule on Emergency Shelter Grants Program; Set-Aside Allocation for Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages, published in the Federal Register on April 5, 1993 (58 FR 17764), describes the method for allocating these funds. This notice announces FY 1997 funding of $1,265,000 to be used to help improve the quality of existing emergency shelters for the homeless, make available additional emergency shelters, meet the costs of operating emergency shelters and of providing essential social services to homeless individuals, and help prevent homelessness. The FY 1997 awards announced in this Notice were selected for funding consistent with the provisions in the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) published in the Federal Register on April 11, 1997 (62 FR 17970). The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance number for this program is 14.231. In accordance with section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of Housing and Urban Development Reform Act of 1989 (103 Stat. 1987, 42 U.S.C. 3545), the Department is hereby publishing the names, addresses, and amounts of those awards as shown in Appendix A.
