Agenda and Notice of Public Meeting of the New York Advisory 
Committee

    Notice is hereby given, pursuant to the provisions of the rules and 
regulations of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, that a meeting of 
the New York Advisory Committee to the Commission will convene at 9:00 
a.m. and adjourn at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 1997, at the 
Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Regional Office, Conference 
Room, 7 World Trade Center, New York, New York 10048. The purpose of 
the meeting is to plan future events and discuss progress of the 
Committee report on section 8 housing programs. The Committee will also 
hold a 4-hour briefing, starting at 1:00 p.m., on police-community 
relations in New York City by representatives from law enforcement, 
city government, community groups, and civil rights organizations.
    Persons desiring additional information, or planning a presentation 
to the Committee, should contact Committee Chairperson L. D. Taracido, 
212-645-8999, or Ki-Taek Chun, Director of the Eastern Regional Office, 
202-376-7533 (TDD 202-376-8116). Hearing-impaired persons who will 
attend the meeting and require the services of a sign language 
interpreter should contact the Regional Office at least ten (10) 
working days before the scheduled date of the meeting.
    The meeting will be conducted pursuant to the provisions of the 
rules and regulations of the Commission.
