El Paso Natural Gas Company; Notice of Proposed Changes in FERC 
Gas Tariff

October 8, 1997.
    Take notice that on October 1, 1997, El Paso Natural Gas Company 
(El Paso) tendered for filing to become a part of its FERC Gas Tariff, 
Second Revised Volume No. 1, the following tariff sheets, to be 
effective October 1, 1997:

Eight Revised Sheet No. 30

    El Paso states that the tariff sheets are being filed to implement 
negotiated rate contracts pursuant to the Commission's Statement of 
Policy on Alternatives to Traditional Cost-of-Service Ratemaking for 
Natural Gas Pipeline and Regulation of Negotiated Transportation 
Services of Natural Gas Pipelines issued January 31, 1996 at Docket 
Nos. RM95-6-000 and RM96-7-000.
    Any person desiring to protest said filing should file a protest 
with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.W., 
Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Section 385.211 of the 
Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure. All such protests must be 
filed in accordance with Section 154.210 of the Commission's 
Regulations. All protests filed with the Commission will be considered 
by it in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not 
serve to make protestants parties to this proceeding. Copies of this 
filing are on file with the Commission and are available for public 
inspection.
