Notice of Proposed Withdrawal and Opportunity for Public Meeting;
Arizona
AGENCY: Bureau of Land Management, Interior.
ACTION: Notice.

SUMMARY: The United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service,
has filed an application to withdraw 1,620 acres of National Forest
System land to protect the Upper Hassayampa River Corridor. This notice
closes the land for up to 2 years from location and entry under the
United States mining laws. The land will remain open to all other uses
which may be made of National Forest System land.
DATES: Comments and requests for a meeting should be received on or
before January 7, 1998.

SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: On September 18, 1997, the Forest Service
filed an application to withdraw the following described National
Forest System land from location and entry under the United States
mining laws, subject to valid existing rights:
Gila and Salt River Meridian
Prescott National Forest
T. 13 N., R. 2 W.,
Sec. 31, lot 20;
Sec. 32, lots 13 to 20, inclusive;
Sec. 33, lots 11 to 14, inclusive.
T. 12\1/2\ N., R. 2 W.,
Sec. 20, lots 1 to 4, inclusive;
Sec. 21, lots 1 to 4, inclusive, SW\1/4\SE\1/4\, SE\1/4\SE\1/4\,
and SE\1/4\SW\1/4\;
Sec. 22, SW\1/4\SW\1/4\, and SE\1/4\SW\1/4\;
Sec. 26, SW\1/4\, SW\1/4\NW\1/4\, and SW\1/4\SE\1/4\, excluding
MS 3986;
Sec. 27, N\1/2\;
Sec. 35, NE\1/4\NW\1/4\, NW\1/4\NE\1/4\, N\1/2\SW\1/4\NE\1/4\,
SE\1/4\SW\1/4\NE\1/4\, and W\1/2\SE\1/4\NE\1/4\, excluding MS 1481,
MS 3966, MS 1291, and MS 966.
The area described contains 1,620 acres in Yavapai County.
All persons who wish to submit comments, suggestions, or objections
in connection with the proposed withdrawal may present their views in
writing, by the date specified above, to the Forest Supervisor,
Prescott National Forest.
Notice is hereby given that an opportunity for a public meeting is
afforded in connection with the proposed withdrawal. All interested
persons who desire a public meeting for the purpose of being heard on
the proposed withdrawal must submit a written request, by the date
specified above, to the Forest Supervisor, Prescott National Forest.
Upon determination by the authorized officer that a public meeting will
be held, a notice of time and place will be published in the Federal
Register at least 30 days before the scheduled date of the meeting.
The application will be processed in accordance with the
regulations set forth in 43 CFR 2300.
For a period of 2 years from the date of publication of this
notice in the Federal Register, the land will be segregated as
specified above unless the application is denied or canceled or the
withdrawal is approved prior to that date.
