SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: In response to a request from several
companies involved in research and development activities, the EPA is
extending the public comment period from July 11, 1997, to August 11,
1997, on the Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for listing
research and development facilities on the source category list. The
EPA agrees that an extension of the comment period will provide for
more meaningful, constructive comments on the ANPR. Due to the unique
nature of R&D activities and the EPA's request in the ANPR for specific
information and recommendations on how to list R&D facilities, the
extension to the comment period will provide the EPA with more detailed
comments that will result in future time savings on the project.
