On April 10, 1997, GPU International Asia, Inc. (GPUI Asia) of One Upper Pond Road, Parsippany, New Jersey, filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission an application for determination of exempt wholesale generator status pursuant to Part 365 of the Commission's Regulations. According to its application, GPUI Asia, a Delaware corporation, was formed to operate a 300 megawatt pulverized coal-fired power plant to be located south of Manila, the Philippines, which will be an eligible facility as defined in the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 1935. All of the electric energy produced by the Facility will be sold at wholesale to Manila Electric Company or to other utilities located in the Philippines. Any person desiring to be heard concerning the application for exempt wholesale generator status should file a motion to intervene or comments with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, NE, Washington, DC 20426, in accordance with 18 CFR 385.211 and 385.214 of the Commission's Rules of Practice and Procedure. The Commission will limit its consideration of comments to those that concern the adequacy or accuracy of the application. All such motions and comments should be filed on or before May 5, 1997 and must be served on the applicant. Any person wishing to become a party must file a motion to intervene.
