DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY
[Docket Nos. TQ97-2-23-002 and TM97-6-23-001]

Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company; Notice of Proposed Changes in
FERC Gas Tariff

January 6, 1997.
Take notice that on December 31, 1996, Eastern Shore Natural Gas
Company (ESNG) tendered for filing certain revised tariff sheets in the
above captioned dockets as part of its FERC Gas Tariff, First Revised
Volume No. 1, with proposed effective dates of November 1, 1996 and
December 1, 1996, respectively.
On November 26, 1996, ESNG filed with the Commission revised rates
to reflect an out-of cycle purchased gas adjustment (PGA), proposed to
be effective December 1, 1996. Subsequently, on December 6, 1996, ESNG
filed tariff sheets to track rate changes attributable to storage
service purchased from Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corporation
(Transco) and to correct a clerical error in its previously accepted
tracker filing. It has since come to ESNG's attention, per FERC Order
dated December 20, 1996, that ESNG's original filings contained
incorrectly paginated tariff sheets. The instant filing is being made
to correct the pagination errors made in the original filings.
ESNG states that copies of the filing have been served upon its
jurisdictional customers and interested State Commissions.
Any person desiring to protest said filing should file a protest
with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E.,
Washington, D.C. 20426, in accordance with Rule 211 of the Commission's
Rules of Practice and Procedure (18 CFR Section 385.211). All such
protests must be filed in accordance with Section 154.210 of the
Commission's Regulations. Protests will be considered by the Commission
in determining the appropriate action to be taken, but will not serve
to make protestants parties to the proceeding. Copies of this filing
are on file with the Commission and are available for public inspection
in the Public Reference Room.
Linwood A. Watson, Jr.,
Acting Secretary.
