FCC To Hold Open Commission Meeting Thursday, January 9, 1997

    The Federal Communications Commission will hold an Open Meeting on 
the subjects listed below on Thursday, January 9, 1997, which is 
scheduled to commence at 9:30 a.m. in Room 856, at 1919 M Street, NW., 
Washington, DC.

Item No., Bureau, Subject

1--Cable Services--Title: Closed Captioning and Video Description of 
Video Programming and Implementation of Section 305 of the Tele-
communications Act of 1996: Video Programming Accessibility (MM Docket 
No. 95-176). Summary:

The Commission will consider action concerning closed captioning 
require-ments for video programming.
2--Office of Engineering and Technology--Title: Amendment of the 
Commission's Rules to Provide for Operation of Unlicensed NII Devices 
in the 5 GHZ Frequency Range (ET Docket No. 96-102, RM-8648 & RM-8653). 
Summary: The Commission will consider action to make available 300 
megahertz of spectrum in the 5.15-5.35 GHz and 5.725-5.825 GHz bands 
for broadband U-NII devices.
