Northern Natural Gas Company; Notice of Proposed Changes in FERC 
Gas Tariff

December 3, 1996.
    Take notice that on November 27, 1996, Northern Natural Gas Company 
(Northern), tendered for filing to become part of its FERC Gas Tariff, 
Fifth Revised Volume No. 1, the following tariff sheets, with an 
effective date of January 1, 1997:

29 Revised Sheet No. 50
29 Revised Sheet No. 51

    Northern states that the filing revises the current GSR surcharge 
which is designed to recover Northern's gas supply realignment costs 
and applicable carrying charges. Therefore, Northern has filed the 
Twenty Ninth Revised Sheet Nos. 50 and 51 to revise the GSR surcharge, 
effective January 1, 1997.
    Northern states that copies of the filing were served upon 
Northern's customers and interested State Commissions.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C., 20426, 
in accordance with Sections 385.214 and 385.211 of the Commission's 
Rules and Regulations. All such motions or protests must be filed in 
accordance with Section 154.210 of the Commission Regulations. Protests 
will be considered by the Commission in determining the appropriate 
action to be taken in this proceeding, but will not serve to make 
protestant a party to the proceeding. Any person wishing to become a 
party must file a motion to intervene. Copies of this filing are on 
file with the Commission and are available for inspection.
