[Federal Register Volume 61, Number 193 (Thursday, October 3, 1996)] [Notices] [Page 51697] From the Federal Register Online via the Government Publishing Office [www.gpo.gov] [FR Doc No: 96-25355] ----------------------------------------------------------------------- DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY [Project No. 3574-004 Montana] Continental Hydro Corporation; Notice of Availability of Environmental Assessment September 27, 1996. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's (Commission) Regulations, 18 CFR Part 380 (Order No. 486, 52 F.R. 47897), the Office of Hydropower Licensing has reviewed the application for an original, major license for the Tiber Dam Hydroelectric Project (project), and has prepared a Final Environmental Assessment (EA) for the project. The project is located at the Bureau of Reclamation's existing Tiber Dam and Lake Elwell, on the Marias River in Liberty County, Montana. In the final EA, the Commission's staff has analyzed the existing and potential future environmental impacts of the project and has concluded that licensing the project, with appropriate environmental protective or enhancement measures, would not constitute a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment. Copies of the EA are available for review in the Public Reference Branch, Room 2A, of the Commission's offices at 888 First Street N.E., Washington, D.C. 20426. Lois D. Cashell, Secretary.
