Northern Natural Gas Company; Notice of Refund Report

May 23, 1996.
    Take notice that on May 20, 1996, Northern Natural Gas Company 
(Northern) submitted worksheets reflecting the distribution of refunds 
paid to jurisdictional sales customers on May 20, 1996.
    Northern states that these refunds are being made pursuant to the 
Commission's Order in Colorado Interstate Gas Company, Docket Nos. 
GP83-11-002 and RI83-9-003 issued December 1, 1993.
    The Commission ordered that ``any first seller that collected 
revenues in excess of the applicable maximum lawful price established 
by the NGPA as a result of the reimbursement of the Kansas ad valorem 
taxes for sales on or after June 28, 1988, shall refund any such excess 
revenues to the purchaser'' * * *''. The Interstate pipelines were then 
required to make lump-sum cash payments of the Kansas ad valorem tax 
refunds to the customers who were actually overcharged. Included with 
Northern's payments is interest covering the period from the date 
Northern received the refund from the producer until May 20, 1996.
    Northern states that a copy of this report is being mailed to each 
of Northern's affected jurisdictional sales customers.
    Any person desiring to be heard or to protest said filing should 
file a motion to intervene or protest with the Federal Energy 
Regulatory Commission, 888 First Street, N.E., Washington, D.C., 20426, 
in accordance with Sections 385.214 and 385.211 of the Commission's 
Rules and Regulations. All such petitions or protests must be filed on 
or before May 31, 1996. All protests will be considered by the 
Commission in determining the appropriate action to be taken in this 
proceeding, but will not serve to make Protestant a party to the 
proceeding. Any person wishing to become a party must file a motion to 
intervene. Copies of this filing are on file with the Commission and 
are available for inspection.
