National Steel Corporation; Order Granting Authorization To 
Import and Export Natural Gas From and to Canada and Vacating 
Authorization

AGENCY: Office of Fossil Energy, DOE.

ACTION: Notice of order.

SUMMARY: The Office of Fossil Energy of the Department of Energy gives 
notice that it has issued an order granting National Steel Corporation 
(National Steel) authorization to import up to 500 Bcf of natural gas 
each year from Canada, and to export up to 280 Bcf of natural gas each 
year to Canada. This import/export authorization shall extend for a 
period of ten years beginning on the date of the initial import or 
export delivery, whichever occurs first. In conjunction with this 
authorization, the import/export authorization previously granted to 
National Steel in DOE/FE Order No. 1017 (see 1 FE para.70,071, issued 
October 30, 1994) has been terminated.
    National Steel's order is available for inspection and copying in 
the Office of Fuels Programs Docket Room, 3F-056, Forrestal Building, 
1000 Independence Avenue, SW., Washington, DC 20585, (202) 586-9478. 
The docket room is open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., 
Monday through Friday, except Federal holidays.
