Shipping Coordinating Committee; Subcommittee on Safety of Life 
at Sea Working Group on Radiocommunications; Meetings

    The Working Group on Radiocommunications of the Subcommittee on 
Safety of Life at Sea will conduct open meetings at 9:30 AM on 
Thursday, September 15, Thursday, October 20, Thursday, November 17, 
and Thursday, December 15, 1994. Meetings previously scheduled for 
September 28 and October 26, 1994, are canceled. These meetings will be 
held in the Department of Transportation Headquarters Building, 400 
Seventh Street, S.W., Washington, DC 20950. The purpose of these 
meetings is to discuss the papers received and the draft U.S. positions 
in preparation for the 40th Session of the International Maritime 
Organization (IMO) Subcommittee on Radiocommunications which is 
scheduled for January 1995, at the IMO headquarters in London, England.
    Among other things, the item of particular interest is:

--The implementation of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System 
(GMDSS).

    Members of the public may attend these meetings up to the seating 
capacity of the rooms. Interested persons may seek information,
